    IBEW Vermilion County Members Vote to Accept New Agreement

    Friday August 12, 2022 - International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 21 (IBEW21) members  working for Vermilion County in both the  Judicial and Non-Judicial units voted to accept the tentative agreement that was reached earlier this week. The new Collective Bargaining Agreement will provide wage increases in addition to addressing other workplace issues. We would like to congratulate our Sisters and Brothers and their Bargaining team on their success!

    Wage Increase

    Brothers and Sisters, The General Wage Increase (GWI) of 1.25% is effective July 31st, 2002. The GWI will be reflected in the August 12,2022 paychecks for eligible associates covered by East collective bargaining agreements. The Ratification Bonus ($750.) will be reflected in a separate Verizon paycheck on August 12,2002 for eligible employees as well.

    Amtrak paid $2.3 million in executive bonuses in 2021. Talk about a hand in the fare box. Despite lower revenue and ridership, Amtrak somehow found gobs of money for the bosses. Amtrak's CEO Stephen Gardner received $293,000 in bonuses in 2021. Eight others in the 12-member leadership team received bonuses of $230,000 more. Meanwhile, the BMWED struggles with an attrition rate that robs America’s railroad of productivity.

    An agreement has been reached between our Union and AT&T to extend the Work From Home Agreements for IBEW members until March 31, 2023. This extension applies to all IBEW members working under all IBEW – AT&T Contracts who have been identified as employees who are eligible to perform their job duties from home. Company management has the right to cancel the agreements at any time with a seven-day notice. Participation is at the discretion of management and is entirely voluntary on behalf of employees. It is time for your voices to be heard. Tell your manager they need to let their bosses know that their employees are unhappy with the decisions they are making. We remind all members to continue to work safely.

    Teamsters Local 231 members and their families turned out for a great day of food, games, and comradery on July 30th. Over 400 people attended the picnic at Camp Lutherwood on Lake Samish. The warm weather made swimming, canoeing, and kayaking favorite activities for all ages, and the bounce-house with slide was a huge hit with the little ones the entire day.

    Death Of Member Mark Peters, Jr.

Peters, Jr., passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022.  Born on December 16, 1952, Mark was a 1972 graduate of Badin High School, and has been a member of IBEW Local 648 since 1978.  A service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 11:00 am at The Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Lewis officiating.
